I will be on Carnival Fantasy in March/2006. Does anyone know if they put your photo on sail and sign card? Can you put cash on this card and if so how much is the minimum? Has anyone stayed in a room with beds coming out the walls? Anything else you want to add about Carnival Fantasy will be appreciated? Thanks:D

Your photo is imprinted in the mag strip so that when you re-board they can see your pic but it is not on the card as a pic. The min amount of cash depends on how long your voyage but absolute min is $200.00 (US). If you do not use it all then they will give you a check on the last day for the amount that is left.

your picture will not show upi on the actual card. when you get on and off the ship they scan the card and your picture comes up on their screen. this way they know you are you, not someone that may have stolen your card. they also use this to keep track of ppl when they leave, that way when the ship pulls out they know if you got back on the ship or not.

Lastly have a great time on your cruise, i sailed with Fantasy last year (march '05). if you have any other questions let me know, id be happy to help.

We were on Carnival Fascination, which is a sister ship to Fantasy. The beds that fold out of the walls are right above the main beds in the rooms. At least they were with our oceanview room. You didn't say if you had an inside cabin or outside cabin. Go to sites (probably on this one) and look at the ship's layout to see how close you are to everything. Take good shoes because even though they have elevators we found ourselves more times than not using the steps because elevators fill up fast and sometimes you wait and wait for them to come only to have the doors open and it's filled up. It was nothing for us to climb 5 levels to get to the dining room. We didn't gain weight on the cruise because we burned it off. And.....just have fun.

Did you book through a TA or a PVP? My TA had a video of the ship for us to watch-didn't have a heck of a lot of video on the ship-but did give us a better idea on what to expect. (And it was done in the early 90's-that was interesting).

What would you like to know about the Fantasy? She's slightly older (1989)-complete with bright neon lights all over-but clean, it was our first cruise so we were happy! We were on the Main deck with port holes-was loud in the morning with docking, but other than being awake for 10 minutes at 6am most mornings, we slept fine.

Brandy- I have always used cash and funship dollars for our onboard accounts. I dont have a credit card at all. I do have a debit card but since I have a 200 daily allowance I wont use that card and screw up my account not to have access to my money- its not worth the chance.

The reason people say its easier to use a credit card is because you have a recourse if you want to challenge something that is charged on your account. With cash there is no safety net. But I watch my account every night before I go to be so IF there is a discrepency I can fix it right away. Use cash-- you will be fine

I'm so glad I found this forum! It has answered many questions I had. I have one or two more...I'm a first time cruiser, going with a couple friends who have cruised before. I'm confused about the sail and sign card. Since the three of us are bunking together, do we each get our own cards? I would be using cash and not sure how much to bring. We're sailing on Carnival Triumph on March 4. I want to use cash and not my debit card.

So what do I need to do? Go to the pursor, give him a few hundred, get my card and go have fun? My girlfriends said we'll just use one credit card and figure out the charges later....heh, I really want to avoid that. I want to spend some time on the tables, they don't gamble and I love blackjack. Hows that work anyway? You give them your card or do you give them cash? Can you use both if you run out on your card? I really like morning coffee or I'm a real grump, would room service bring me a pot?

Ok, I lied...I had more than one or two questions. Thanks for any help.

Carnival will take your photo when giving you your Sail and Sign card. However this photo won't be on the actual Sail and Sign card itself, just in the computer so when you get off the ship for ports security can scan it and check that you belong on the boat.

You can put cash on the Sail and Sign card. There is no minimum as far as I know. If you want to buy one drink for $3.00 (per say) then that's fine. It will be charged to the bill at the end of the cruise.

For the beds on the walls question, I have stayed in a room like that a few years back. Not on the Fantasy but fold down beds are all the same. The cabin steward/stewardess will pull down and make your bed in the evenings and after waking up will fold up the beds for you.

Stephinator45....

Even though there are three of you in the same room you will all recieve individual Sail and Sign cards. Everyone gets their own.

I would suggest around the ship using your sail and sign card. Convince your friends that you should each use your own sail and sign cards for the on board charges. It's a lot easier. If you want to see how much you have spent you can see a full list of what you've purchased on the TV in your room. That way you can keep track of your money easily.

And to answer your coffee question, yes, you can get coffee through room service. Usually a thermal pitcher with coffee mugs sort of arangement.

Have a lot of fun on your cruise!

Thanks for the quick response! (yay for coffee) So when you're gambeling you just give them your card and tell them how much in chips you want? Hows that work on the slots?

For the tables: When gambling you go up the Cashier's desk, and they charge your S&S card whatever you want to withdraw (and charge 3%). They give you a receipt, which you take to the tables and they exchange it for chips.

For the slots: You enter your card and it up like a debit card, they system will guide you through it. Again, they charge 3%. Much too convenient for me, lol!

When you check in you will tell the clerk you are placing cash. You can visit the pursers desk anytime the first night to put your cash on your account. (remember your account will be chared 10.pp for tips so if you are cruising 7 days thats 70 bucks right off the top) I find the pursers desk is less crowded around dinner times.

To be safe with your debit card--please call the bank and ask them to lift any restrictions you have on that card. Ex- I have a daily limit of 200.00 per day. If i did not make that call and have the restriction lifted I'd be in trouble when I get back and my account will be frozen for a few days leaving me with no money.

---

you can order a pot of coffee from room service..remember to request your condiments also (creamers, sugars, etc.)

the coffee cups onboard are small- so if you like coffeeke an insulated mug and get your coffee from the buffet.

See, I dont think they nickle and dime me to death-- my sign and sail account has never been over 300, for the both of us. And yes that includes the tips.

Room service is free-- tip a buck or two when the server deleivers. COffee is free in the lido buffet as well as the dining room. THere is a charge for specialty coffee from the cafe.

You will get free coctails at the captains party. (held before dinner)

not in the casino. they dont have to as there is no other casino you can go visit. Besides, if they offered free drinks dont you think everyone will be at the penny machines on a cruise ship. (LOL0

Free champagne if you go to the art auction.

If you are a past quest you will get a free party for that also.

Here is a question... how come the free drinks are a lot stronger then the ones we pay for?

I'm just used to Vegas..and talk about strong drinks. Get you hammered so you blow more money and play stupid on the tables. Heh.

You're kidding about the penny slots right? LOL!
