room on Grand

Our first cruise will be on the Grand in February. We're going with a group of people who have been before and are just "following" them. The TA originally booked cat E, obstructed view, as she said we'd come close to getting an upgrade. They have upped us to a "D" with our cabin being P315 on the Plaza level with an unobstructed view. Is the "P" really gonna stand for "the Pitts" or will be be OK? This time we really can't afford to pay for an upgrade, hopefully next time. Do they ever upgrade twice? Is that section of the boat rockier?

Thanks for all the help. Yes, I'm gonna have a good time and go with the flow, no matter what! Just wondering.

We were in P243 on the Star last year and the rest of our friends were on the Dolphin deck. The only problem we had was the 1st day, when trying to get the elevators to get to the Horizon Court on the Lido deck. They were very busy as you can imagine. After the first day we had no problems getting the elevators, and just used the stairs if we only wanted to go to the Fiesta or Promenade. Also, there is the Lobby bar that is suppose to have the best coffee (though we didn't try it), and they have the greatest assortment of macarone cookies all during the day.

We were further forward in the ship then you will be, under Shooter's Sports bar, and could hear them moving chairs around late at night after we went to bed. Looks like you are under the casino, which was handy for us last year. I won $3700 on the quarter slot and had to go back to my room for my ss card and other documentation.

As far as ship movement, we were cruising on the eastern Caribbean, and there were times when it was rough for everyone, no matter which level or room.

On the last day when we were waiting for them to call our color to disembark the ship, we just sat on the ledge around the fountain, to wait our turn to leave. I think they want you to wait in the lounges but we were out of the way of everyone, and didn't want to lug our carry ons up two flights, only to return to where we started from.

This year we are on the Golden, in catagory E. I purposely selected e408 and called Princess and said I do not want to be upgraded, and was told that we would be able to turn it down if we didn't want it, being we didn't book a garantee.

Good luck and I hope you have a great cruise and enjoy your window.
