swissmax Posted November 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2005 We are cruising NCL Sun in January and need to know if the ship docks or uses tenders in the ports of Belize and Roatan. Due to limited mobility, my husband is unable to board a tender safely. We'd like to plan shore excusions if the ship docks in either or both ports. Bonnie J. Posted November 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2005 In Belize there is a tender and you drop anchor about 5 or 6 miles out. They are planning to build a pier but that won't be done for a couple of years. In Roatan you dock at a pier. Keep in mind that Cozumel is tendering now because of the damage to all their piers after the hurricane. We had to tender when we 1st started going to Cozumel. If you go to Costa Maya, they have a pier.
cusyl Posted November 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2005 When we were in Belize last year we tendered, but not on a ship tender....it was a really big commercial one. I don't think you would have a problem getting on and of it, I didn't and I am mobility impaired.
sportsterjohn Posted November 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2005 In Roatan, there is a pier that can hold 1 ship. Your ship may get it or another ship may get it. When I went, we had to tender in (only about 100 yards) but in the afternoon, our ship moved to the pier so we just walked back on. There are people to help you get on and off the tenders. We had a few wheelchair bound people on our tenders in Coz and GC last week.

We were there on the Zenith Apr 04.
