Taxi tour question

My mom and I will be in St Thomas with Carnival in March. We get in at 7 am, so instead of signing up for one of the Sonny Liston/Godfrey tours that start at 9 or later, I thought we'd just get off of the ship and get a taxi for a tour. I had a question about drop off though - when the tour is over, do they always take you back to the port area? I'd like to do a beach after the tour, but wasn't sure if we could ask to be dropped there by the same one or if we'd need to come back and then do a 2nd taxi directly to the beach we choose.

It varies depending on the driver and the others in the taxi. One of the reasons that the tours start at 9 is because most of the attractions don't open until maybe 8 or 9. Only the beaches are open so if you want to get out early ask if the taxi can take you to a beach and maybe come back a few hours later to give you a tour and drop you back at the dock.

Many taxis on St Thomas can hold up to 20+ people and drivers like to fill them up before they leave the dock.
