Babynan Posted May 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Hi. I'm not sure if this is the correct board to post this question on. We are due to go on a Mediterranean cruise from the UK at the end of September. I have been looking at phone and data charges, and I noticed that Data Roaming charges are removed from 5th June for Europe. I think Virgin are calling it ROAM LIKE HOME. Does anyone have any information about this? I have a monthly contract with Virgin and I was wondering if my allowances can be used while cruising. Also, if I can, does it work while actually sailing, or only while in Ports? Virgin also have something called TRAVEL PASSES, which apparently you can buy and use before 5th June. Any help and information about this would be grateful. James

James From the 5th June the EU as banned all roaming charges for people from EU countries using their phone in another EU country, there are also a few other countries included like Norway. Best to check on Virgins website or ring them. You will be only able to get free roaming whilst on land. The ships use cellular at sea which uses satellites.
