Stingray City and Wearing Shoes?

I will be taking the Stingray City tour and was wondering should you be wearing water shoes? Since you are on a sandbar and reefs, are there rocks until your feet? I want to be comfortable and safe.

 

Anyone's experience would be appreciated.

The sand is very smooth there. No rocks in that area, you should be fine. We also visited Rum Point Beach after our stingray visit. There I needed shoes in the water, very rocky.

You are not permitted to wear shoes or flippers at the sandbar to prevent injury to the rays. The bottom is completely sandy so there is no need.

You'll love feeding the stingrays. It was the highlight of my cruise. Can't wait to go back just because it was such a different experience.

No shoes, and they'll tell you, just be sure to walk flat. Did this a few years ago and loved it.
