What to do in FLL

Wondering what to do in FLL after debarkation. We have a 4:30 pm flight. We would like to see the everglades I think. What is the best way to get there? There will be 6 of us, so should we rent a car? Take a taxi? How far away is it? How long does it take to see it? Can you do it on your own or only through the ship's excursion?

Thanks!

Best bet is to rent a car, its too far for taxi. Get a map, do some research online first to find places, etc. then head out. You'll have the car to take you back to the airport. Once you get there you take an airboat ride that I'd say is maybe 1/2 hour or so. Check map quest for how far away it is from where you will be, it's a bit down the highway but easy to get to.

Hi Cindy, It sure would be easy to do it on your own but truthfully, your best bet would be to take the ships Everglades Tour excursion.

With the ships excursion your luggage goes on the bus with you. Its safe secure, no worries and its unloaded for you at the airport. The ship will take you to Holiday Park http://www.evergladesholidaypark.com/ or Sawgrass Recreation Center http://evergladestours.com/ both give fine tours of the Everglades. It's a great way to get a taste of the Glades.

From the port to either park will be about 45 - 60 minutes depending on traffic.

Renting a car IMHO would be too much of a hassle. Six people, luggage, one car, your just inviting trouble. It's the end of your vacation, unwind, relax, let someone else do the planning and driving for you. ;)
