mitchdew Posted November 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2005 Hello, i just found out that there is a star trek cruise out there(CRUISETREK.COM) and seems like a lot of fun. Any body from this board has sailed with them? Somebody from the HAL threads has been in all of them. They do one evry year to a different destination. (Baltic, Tahiti, Panama canal, Carribean, Hawaii, Alaska, Easter mediterranean, Bermuda, etc) I would love to know more opinios before i decide to book that cruise. Next year they are going to Canad-New england with HAL. Any information would be apreciated Thanks

I have not been on cruisetrek but I have been on a SlayerCruise (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and it was a blast. It was basically a week long convention and we got up close and personal with some of the stars from the show. There were special events just for us including our own excursion. The same company (Vulkon Entertainment) is now planning a SeaTrek (Star Trek)/SlayerCruise simultaneously for 2007 going to Alaska. IMO if you enjoy mingling with other people who are obsessed with the show then I would recommend it. My sister is a big Star Trek fan so she is thinking about going on one also. JeannyCT Posted April 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2006 that sounds massively fun :) It is. If you want more information: There is at least one more thread on this board about it or you can ask here. You can also check out the website mitchdew mentioned or go to the Yahoo group (search for Cruise Trek).
etoile Posted April 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2006 I have not been on one myself but I know SeaTrek has been around for years. I saw that combination Slayer/Trek cruise and I would LOVE to go! I interpret for two conventions every year (February and July) and it would be really cool to do this. travelkeys Posted May 12, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2006 that sounds massively fun :) You have no idea...:D Some of my pictures from the SlayerCruise are posted here... http://travelkeys.blogs.friendster.com/photos/slayercruise/index.html Happily I got to meet and hang out with Saskia aka DJAX (www.djax.nl) and her gf (they are fans of BtVS). I was also excited to meet Amber Benson for a second time and Iyari Limon for a first time. Iyari totally rocked by the way. :D :D :D I always feel like a big dork because I had such a blast but then I think "Who cares...I had fun and that is all that matters". travelkeys Posted May 12, 2006 #8 Share Posted May 12, 2006 Thanks those are some of my favorite photos!! It was the last port when I decided to get my hair braided. It took her almost 3 hours to do. I loved it. It was interesting going back to work the next week though (I am an administrative assistant for a large company). Luckily they were okay with it. :D I actually have more pictures which include landscape pictures and photos of the boat. I could post those this weekend if anyone is interested in seeing them. I had such a good time I will probably go on the 2007 one even though I am not sure about the Alaska itinerary. My sister really wanted to go on the SeaTrek portion but seeing as she will be having triplets in November  I think she will have her hands full and be a bit too busy. etoile Posted May 12, 2006 #9 Share Posted May 12, 2006 Sure, I'd love to see the rest of your pictures! And Alaska is beautiful, I was there in Sept 05 and I'm going back in May 07. When I got my hair braided on Grenada, the woman didn't want to do my whole head because my hair was so long! She was going to charge something outrageous, but I wanted my hair braided, so I ended up with this instead - it's just the two rows along the center of my head. rikig1969 Posted November 23, 2006 #10 Share Posted November 23, 2006 Wow! These do sound like a lot of fun! Being a huge Trek fan, I'd love it. Where I currently live, there are no cons, so I miss going to one. :( Where can I find out more information about these cruises? Are there any websites with info? laminar Posted November 24, 2006 #12 Share Posted November 24, 2006 Hey Richard, Check this link as well: www.cruisetrek.com Seems like this company puts together more elaborated events than Seatrek. Cruisetrek has gone to Europe, Tahiti, Panama canal, Alaska,... and now they are going to Australia New Zealand. Seatrek seems that only go to the "conventional" places like Alaska and the Caribbean. Check out the options and hopefully you can make it to one of these cruises. They are a lot of fun!!
rikig1969 Posted November 25, 2006 #13 Share Posted November 25, 2006 Thanks for the info, etoile and laminar. I'll definately check those websites... a Down Under cruise sounds wonderful, but most likely out of my price range. Does anyone have any pics or stories to share from a Trek cruise? JeannyCT Posted January 9, 2007 #17 Share Posted January 9, 2007 I always assumed these were full-ship charters, I dunno. The cruises I've been on weren't full-ship charters (group size between 70 and 800 fans). I guess it’s as always: some passengers like it (I know that some asked for more information and considered coming along in the future), others probably don’t (the dining room tends to be slightly noisier than on other cruises). laminar Posted March 28, 2007 #18 Share Posted March 28, 2007 During their Down under cruise. Cruisetrek is goig to be doing a few Lor of the rings tours in New zealand. It sounds like a great time. I already booked 3 tours!

JeannyCT Posted March 31, 2007 #20 Share Posted March 31, 2007 $2300 Per Person??????For an INSIDE cabin!!! Sure, it is expensive, but it's for a two week cruise (November 4 to 18). Plus we have the extra entertainment (to pay for and to enjoy) the regular passengers on board don't have.
Starcruiser1 Posted February 26, 2008 #21 Share Posted February 26, 2008 I've cruised with Richard Hatch from "Battlestar Galactica", but I haven't done done any Star Trek cruises. Another Battlestar cruise, "Galacticruise" is planned for September 2008 from Los Angeles. http://www.galacticruise.com This will celebrate the 30th aniversary of Battlestar Galactica and has Dirk Benedict, Richard Hatch, plus Aaron Douglas from the new Battlestar Galactica series. This one is very affordable with prices from only around $500 for a four day cruise.
kryos Posted March 5, 2008 #22 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Looks like a blast! I just wonder what the other passengers think:D Unless the theme cruise has a ton of participants onboard (enough to be close to 50% of the ship's capacity for that sailing), the other passengers won't even realize the theme cruise is taking place. The theme cruise will have their own rooms for their private activities or those activities will take place in public areas that are not used during the day. Unless a theme cruise takes over the entire sailing (full ship charter) they won't be allowed to do anything that will impact the other passengers. They will still have to follow the same dress codes for the dining room, will not be able to offer their own entertainment in the lounges at night, etc. The other passengers onboard do have the right to a "standard" cruise experience, so the theme cruise will be limited to what they can do when they don't charter the ship. Now, when it's a full ship charter, that's when it's anything goes. The chartering company decides how they want their cruise to operate. They can decide on an all casual dress code for the week (or no dress in the case of a nudist cruise), can bring on their own entertainment, can close down bars and the casino (Christian cruises), take over public spaces for group activities, etc. That's why a full ship charter is always best for a theme cruise. It looks like it's gonna be packed full with lots of great activities. An "official" pre-cruise hotel has been designated (the Queen Mary in Long Beach) and activities are even being planned for the day before the cruise, including a champagne brunch the morning of. I think there are also going to be some "optional" activities too ... including Richard Hatch presenting his motivational program that he does on his other "non-Galactica" cruises. Should be a great time. I'll look forward to meeting you there. Blue skies ... --rita
captaincrash Posted May 12, 2008 #24 Share Posted May 12, 2008 This is so cool.... .... I'm already sort of booked with a couple of cruises in the next 12 months - maybe 3 at that... so I can't comfortably schedule one of these now - but maybe next year? RHefley228 Posted May 22, 2008 #25 Share Posted May 22, 2008 I always assumed these were full-ship charters. The SeaTrek 1993 cruise was a full-ship charter, but that was on the relatively small Britanis, now sitting on the bottom of the Indian Ocean. I was aboard as a photographer for STARLOG (SF film/TV magazine) and the fans seemed to be having a great time; I'm not so sure about some of the actors...
