Carnival's new menus--when are they coming?

About a month or two ago, I read that a Michelin 3-star chef was going to revamp the menus and train all the chefs--fleet-wide. Does anybody know when the new menus will be available? We're taking a family (about 30 members) cruise on the Miracle in March. After reading some of the reviews, I'm worried about the food quality and selection. We live in Chicago and are true "foodies." We love to go out to eat at the wonderful restaurants here.

We really enjoyed the food on the Dawn Princess, but we weren't too impressed with the food on the Splendour of the Seas.

All I can say is it's about time they change the menus. I have seen the same menus for the last 5 or so years. Don't get me wrong, the food is always good (I am not particularly a "foodie" -- most times, when we go out to eat, we have to unwrap the food), but it was just getting boring. On the last cruise in October, I had to make myself order things I have never ordered before just to stir things up a bit. (I still regret not getting the pumpkin soup, though.)

I haven't heard anything about a 'Michelin chef'...but if this is true, I hope he doesn't change everything on the menu. I'm also a 'foodie', as well as retired chef, F&B director, and caterer, and I happen to enjoy Carnival's food. It's far from 5-star dining, but is quite tasty, I think. Some of the items could be replaced, but for the most part, I enjoy Carnival food.;)

I read in a thread here a week or two ago that at least a few were not all that enthralled with the changes on some of the newer ships and thier comments left me hoping that changes aren't made on Elation until AFTER my cruise! ;)

The menu that is on the carnival web pages are VERY old. I wish they would update that stuff. You will see the dessert menu is more updated. Some of the old stuff on the menu is new...some they kept.

We sailed in February- the new menu was out then. But then this new guy comes along and wants to add new stuff-- Prunes is not updating anything good for me.

The Grand Marnier souffle was great...just had it last night! :p I loved the Pumpkin soup too. Now this being my first cruise and DH's second (and he is a very fussy eater), we both enjoyed every meal we had. Dinner each night was different in the dining room, lunch buffets were tasty and breakfast had many choices between the pool deck buffet, the Brassiere and the dining room. I am a foodie since I took gourmet cooking classes in college years ago, and this cruise ranked up there in great food with me!!

I sure hope this is not a sign of what is to come with the new menus as I just talked to someone who just sailed on the Liberty for a back-to-back. She said the food was so bad she lost 6 pounds.

I cant imagine that with all the stuff that is available. can you imainge cruising all those days and not finding anything good. (was this the Caribbean or the Med cruise?

Serene56,

She did a back to back on the Liberty. One sailing was in the Med and the other was the transatlantic bringing the Liberty over here. She does not want to sail carnival again. She said when they were in Barcelona there was a strike at the pier and Carnival couldn't get the activities that were suppossed to be loaded on the ship so therefore there was not much activities on those sea days on the way over. She said the only thing to do was go to the casino. I bet Carnival was happy about that.

That was beyond Carnivals control. WHat else were they supposed to do. Dissappointment can ruin a cruise if someone cant go with the flow. All it takes is one bad mishap which cna ruin the rest of the time onboard. Now I understand what happened.
