Lila1975 Posted November 7, 2017 #26 Share Posted November 7, 2017 We are going the week after Thanksgiving via a cruise. Will it be too cold to be beach/pool side? We'd reserved a room at the Waldorf to use the resort for the day. I'm now concerned it will be too cold!!

You can use the pool at Dante's at the Key West Bight or one of the ones at the Marker Hotel behind the Schooner Wharf Bar as long as you buy a drink. Lila1975 Posted November 8, 2017 #29 Share Posted November 8, 2017 It's deeply discounted due to Hilton employee rate. Splitting it four ways with another couple. It's not expensive at all. I didn't think the beach was very good anywhere else. I'll check those places out though. Thanks guys!!

Mslilad Posted November 21, 2017 #31 Share Posted November 21, 2017 What have you found to be the best thing to do when stopping for the day in Key West in walking distance from disembarking. Freckles83 Posted November 22, 2017 #33 Share Posted November 22, 2017 Key West is an amazing stop to get off at and look around. Lots of cool history and fun little bars and restaurants to check out. Great food, amazing people and totally worth the stop. For a first visit walking down to the Hemingway House is a nice way to admire some of the architecture and learn about some of the history of the island. Also the Hemingway House has polydactyl cats :) :) Try some Key Lime Pie or go to Kilwins on Duval for the best fudge ever!

I would agree with all of the above except I would skip Kilwins in favor of something local like Flamingo Crossing Handmade Ice Cream. Kilwins is a yankee institution from MIchigan and has stores all over the country. Mike:)

Also, if you want something more similar to Kilwins (fudge, candy and cookies) go to Matteessens on Duval. Much better in my opinion. Rare dsa181920 Posted November 26, 2017 #36 Share Posted November 26, 2017 I would skip Kilwins in favor of something local like Flamingo Crossing Handmade Ice Cream. Flamingo Crossing is a great place for a delicious ice cream treat. We lived in Key West for a year and went there frequently. Sallie
peter_krynicki Posted November 27, 2017 #37 Share Posted November 27, 2017 What kind of touristy piratety things near the port? My 3 year old loves pirates so this would be perfect for us! If it fits your schedule, do a day sail on the Jolly II Rover ---> http://schoonerjollyrover.com/ Pjk
