cruiseconverts Posted August 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2017 We are booked on Thomson Spirit sailing out of Dubrovnik on 31st August. We are going to Corinth, Itea, Katakolon, Corfu and Kotor Montenegro. Can anyone tell us about shore excursions please. We usually like to do our own thing but are wondering how possible it is or should we book excursions with the ship.
kate52 Posted August 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2017 You can have a very nice day in Kotor and in Corfu without taking an excursion. Though if you get chance to take the half day trip to Paleokastritsa from Corfu it's lovely. There is very little in Itea without booking a trip or taking a chance on getting a taxi. cruiseconverts Posted August 6, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Thanks very much for your information we will book a trip in Itea and do as you suggest. Are you on this cruise ? Do you also know if there is enough time to see anything of Dubrovnik before we sail ?
kate52 Posted August 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Not on this cruise but have been to the ports on previous cruises (except Corinth). It depends what time you get to the ship- last year we had a couple of hours before the lifeboat drill. It's only about 10 minutes by taxi so it can be done, but be aware you might have to wait for a taxi back if there's a queue. You need to go through all the check in procedure, board ship and find your cabin first. Information about time of drill, time to be back onboard before sailing, and the important ship / port contact numbers will all be on the news sheet in your cabin. Hope you have a great time! Sailing from (and flying into) Dubrovnik is lovely.

Plenty of time, you should be on the ship before lunch, drill not till evening ,so a few hours in town should be no problem.

cruiseconverts Posted August 17, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Thanks all for your information, does anyone know if it is possible to do a trip on the Corinth canal on our own or is it best to do the tour with the ship.
ormy Posted August 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Would do the Thomson excursion - only one ship/boat at a time - very narrow canal, but would definitely do it - very spectacular.
cruiseconverts Posted August 29, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted August 29, 2017 Thanks all for the info not long to go now we can't wait for Thursday. Does anyone know if the hop on hop off bus in Corfu is worth using? It doesn't seem to have many stops
