Alta Snow December?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks

Seduced by the glossy photos of snowy mountains, dog sleds and natural light shows, we've just booked a Northern Lights Cruise for early December 2018 we will be in Alta for three days around the end of the first week of December.

I knew when booking it that we may not actually get to see the Northern Lights but I've just read on another forum that we might also not have any snow at that time of the year, either[emoji50]

I'm not looking for an accurate weather forecast (lol) but just wondering typically if there is snow at that time of year?

Many thanks for any help

Alta itself (which is at sea level) has an average November temperature of -3.6 degrees C, 26 degrees F. The mountains are colder. So I should think there's a pretty good chance of snow in Alta and a virtual certainty on the mountains. No chance of sunshine, though - last sunset is on 26th November. But twilight with the snow on the mountains is reasonably bright.
