KittyB Posted December 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Our friends want to take us to ship (Regal) and wonder if they can get on the ship for a going away party. We are sure we saw something that says, for security reasons, that is not allowed anymore. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Druke I Posted December 5, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2005 No longer allowed - but great fun when they were allowed. I do recall one occasion (Dec 84) a person failed to get off Constitution in San Francisco - he was led off the ship the next day in Los Angeles in handcuffs! At least they got him before we set out across the Pacific to Honolulu!! Interesting trip that one - several nights later we had a man overboard call, they turned the ship and started a search while they did a headcount of passengers. Proved to be bad call - ship had been dumping garbage, and someone saw it floating by and phoned the bridge. Last day out, we had a med-evac by USMC chopper, refueled by USAF Hercules. JGR01 Posted December 5, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2005 Ditto .. NOPE. The best option would be for your friends to rent a couple hotel rooms at the port the night before your cruise .. maybe a suite... have a big bash with drinks in the room and then all got out for your 'last land-based dinner' . and party all night long. Then the next day .. you could be taken by these friends to the pier .. and they will drop you off to get aboard. They can then recover from their hangover.. or have a picinic at the pier and watch you sail away (tho a long day from noon to 5pm departure!). In any case . DO NOT miss the ship!
