Fairport Posted September 14, 2017 #26 Share Posted September 14, 2017 St Martin and St Thomas are pretty much destroyed. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian have canceled stops at those ports until further notice. I am sure Carnival Corp will do the same throughout their various lines. There basically is no infrastructure at these ports for now and it will be quite a while before they get back on their feet. Norwegian is moving all eastern Caribbean cruises to western itineraries for the next 2 months. Princess doesn't have any Caribbean cruises until October, so they have some time to make adjustments. nini Posted September 14, 2017 #27 Share Posted September 14, 2017 Thank you "tothemallandbeyond". We really needed this information as our final payment is in October for a January Eastern itinerary. Two of our three ports are St. Marteen and St. Thomas. Geeez. The other is Princess Cay. One traveling couple is bailing on us and I am very disappointed in the Princess response. Thanks for the info.:o
srpilo Posted September 14, 2017 #28 Share Posted September 14, 2017 In October 2015, Wilma became a hurricane in the Caribbean and accelerated to a category 5. It passed over Cozumel before hitting the Yucatan of Mexico and then reentering the Gulf to later hit Florida. It devastated Cozumel a low lying small island destroying about everything including the cruise piers. We were on a cruise a few months later and did visit Cozumel using tenders. It looked like a war zone. Point is that the ship kept its schedule as advertised and did not skip Cozumel. While this may or may not hold true for the islands that were wiped out by Irma we shall see. Don't expect changes to port calls but do expect disaster areas that no longer have the appeal they once had. Sorry to tell you but Wilma hit the Yucatan in 2005 and not 2 years ago.. Facts matter Srpilo
