etaynor Posted December 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2005 We're on the Nautica 6/20 Istanbul to Athens. We've decided to set up our own tour for the single full day that we have available. Are there any specific suggestions as to sites and tour guides which would help us make the most of our one day in town. Thanks, Elliot, Port Jefferson, NY
PurpleCow Posted December 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2005 We had a wonderful guide in Istanbul. Not sure if we're allowed to give out the information here, so if you're interested, email me privately through my profile.
willmschen Posted December 7, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2005 My husband and I hired Levent Solmaz (www.leventsolmaz.com) for 3 days when we were in Istanbul in October. He was excellent. For one day, I recommend Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, the underground cistern, St. Saviour in Chora (beautiful mosaics). This is a lot to see in one day, but it's all great stuff. Then there's the spice market, the bazaar, etc. Betty
Phoenix cruiser Posted December 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2005 etaynor, my wife and I are on the same cruise and plan to arrange a private guide as well. If it makes sense we could join together for a small group and save some money. My e-mail address is brah66@aol.com or marcsheffler@comcast.net. Are you planning private guides in other ports?
