antmilant Posted September 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2017 It's been 13 years since we sailed on Carnival. We are sailing out next Saturday on the Sunshine. Where is a good place to sit down and eat when you board the ship. I am unable to stand for a long period of time. In the past when we sailed on NCL they had one of the main dining rooms open till muster time. Any ideas.
kingston13 Posted September 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2017 I liked the place on the Ocean Plaza on Deck 5 the first day. Was BBQ and not crowded with comfortable seating
A&Jfamily Posted September 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Havana bar area is often not discovered until later on in the cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
torwa Posted September 24, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Havana Bar at the back of the ship. Easy to find a seat. Enjoy the Sunshine, we loved her in Februuary!
p_mori7 Posted September 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Another vote for Havana ! Also a good selection of Cuban treats to eat there.
wrennies Posted September 24, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Does sunshine still have mongolian wok and the pasta place in Havana bar..... if so, that's your best bet everyday!!
tandemcruzr Posted September 24, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2017 We agree with the Havana area. Wok and pasta bar are not crowded on embarkation day.
4boizmom Posted September 24, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 24, 2017 We will also be sailing on the Sunshine for the first time, I can't find Mongolian wok or pasta bar anywhere on the deck plans. Are they in the Havana area somewhere?
ffmikey Posted September 24, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Havana Bar in the back. Lots of nice seating and I believe we ate at the Wok back there. Ate most of our afternoon meals there on our Journeys Cruise. It did start getting busier there as others discovered the area. Mike
summersigh Posted September 24, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Behind the Lido Buffet is the Havana Bar - it has lots of tables many with great views. It has direct access to the Italian restaurant and JiJi's stir fry bowls. The buffet and the Deli are very close as well if you wanted a salad or made to order grilled sandwich. :ship::ship::D

Are they in the Havana area somewhere? It's JiJi Asian (pay at night) for the wok and Cucina del Capitino Italian (pay at night) for pasta bar at lunchtime. During the morning they have am omelet bar and fresh fruit on one side and sides on the other side. Most people don't find the Havana area til the 2-4th day of a cruise. lbj08 Posted September 24, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 24, 2017 The WOK and Italian restaurant are also the omelet stations in the mornings. I love the Havana bar area. I hope it's not too crowded in December.
sgttami Posted September 24, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Another alternative: I can't do the standing and fighting crowds either. My sister and I just got off the Sunshine yesterday. We chose later embarkation (1:30) and had early lunch before we boarded the ship. We booked The Steakhouse for 6:00 and it was much better than dealing with the lunch crowd on that first day. We had done the same thing on Sunshine last year and this was more relaxing. Also, Deck 5 Ocean Plaza has the smaller buffet for lunch and breakfast too.. Our cabin was on Deck 5 so we passed it all the time. It was never packed!

I'd like to head to Havana for embarkation but I am wondering what foods are actually available in that area.
