BallFour4 Posted October 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) anyone else hear this? Old rumor; it will never happen. Galveston has 4 million cruisers in the demographic within a four hour drive, two major airports within a 60 and 90 min ride along with infrastructure to support it. They need to raise 900 million to replace the bridge. It has a current height of 138 feet, and it needs to be over 200. Corpus is a fantastic place; love me some oysters at Water Street Cafe, but it's a geographic isolate to get to. I could be wrong. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2016/06/17/cruise-ship-tug-of-war-draws-in-texas-legislators.html . Thorncroft Posted October 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Corpus and any other city wishing to jump into the cruise business need to call Mobile and San Diego to discuss how easy it is to lose the business after they've invested tens of millions into terminals and infrastructure to support it. It's a fickle business and can literally just sail off into the sunset at the drop of a hat.
