South Beach Hotel Suggestions??

Recommended Posts

We're getting into Miami two days before our cruise. Anyone have suggestions on a decent, but resonably priced SOBE hotel (under$250/night)??? Want to be somewhat near all the action & good stretch of beach if possible.

Thanks.

If you want to be in the real South Beach, near the action and are looking at this winter/spring be prepared to pay plenty... Unless you get lucky with a deal, "decent, reasonably priced" and South Beach don't go together in the winter/spring. Keep in mind that most South Beach hotels are quite old, with small rooms. The decent places have been gutted, remodeled and modernized. They're also very very pricey! The cheaper places have not been remodeled or modernized, and are quite nasty! South Beach is NOT someplace you want to do on the cheap - Unless you have very low standards, you'll be very sorry if you do. You'll also want to be very careful as some hotels that advertise themselves as "South Beach" are not in the real South Beach. You don't want to be too far north of the 1700/1800 block or it becomes too far to walk to anything. The heart of South Beach is between 5th & 15th Streets along Ocean Drive, and 5th & Lincoln Road along Collins & Washington Avenues.
