Galveston Transportation Strategy help!

I need some help. I'm leaving out of galvestion 1/22/06(sunday) and I've never sailed out of this port before. I'm flying into IAH arriving at 8:30 the 21st (night before) and post cruise I'm going to be staying over one night prior to leaving IAH monday morning. I don't care if I have a car the night before but need one for the post cruise. I've read in some threads that the rental agencies have the galveston offices closed on sunday.

 

So my question is, How would you handle this transportation situation?

We rented a one-way car from Enterprise both pre- and post-cruise on our two cruises out of Galveston. Post-cruise, the office may be closed but if you have reserved a vehicle there is an Enterprise representative at a podium as you walk out the main door that will get your contract and keys. The cars used to be parked in the open field next to the driveway but not sure if that's still the case as I've heard Galveston is moving the train tracks and opening up the driveway area. If that's the way you want to go, just be sure and call Galveston Enterprise office directly to make the reservations as the national number won't do a one-way. Hope this helps.
