Royal DZ guarantee

We have booked a category DZ guarantee (Deluxe balcony obstructed). We will be very happy with DZ! In case we get upgraded, will it be to another deluxe balcony, or is a balcony unobstructed considered an upgrade? I hope we get to keep the deluxe category.

To be moved from a category D to a category B would be considered a downgrade, no matter the second digit. Even if the location improved and the obstruction removed.

 

The have been several threads from passengers offered upgrades from obstructed B balcony to unobstructed D balcony who asked for their original cabin back after seeing the location of the "upgrade". There are some oddly placed premium balconies on Marina and Lido deck forward. But as you booked a guarantee you have little recourse if assigned a cabin higher than category DZ even if in a less desirable location than Emerald Deck far forward or aft.

Thanks, fishywood. We will be happy wherever; I just hoped it would stay the D category and not be the B category, which you confirmed. :)

You will probably get upgraded to a Deluxe balcony that over looks the top of a life boat just because there are more of them and many DZ passengers like to hang to that category.
