Persian Garden

I just spent time in the Persian Gardens on our Millie transatlantic. They had a couple's special for $150 per couple for the 12-day cruise. My husband wasn't interested, so they let the other half of my couple be my sister, who was in a different cabin. I didn't mind the fee at all, because it keeps the traffic down in there.

The Persian Gardens are basically a co-ed steam and sauna. There was one large very hot steam room, one small aromatic steam room, one dry heat room, and showers to rinse off in. There are also large heated tiled benches to cool off on, along with water and an ice bin for your pulse points. It's nicely decorated, dimly lit, and aromatic with Enya type music playing softly. I liked it quite a bit.

There are plenty of towels in there, and they ask that you wear a bathing suit as it's co-ed.

We tried it once. There's a one day price and also an entire cruise price. We didn't think it was worth going to more than once for the cost. We also used the regular (no extra charge) suanas in the spa changing rooms quite a bit, nice view of the water....

A spa daily special I booked on Summit included an hour in the Persian Gardens. They let me and my travel mate use it for 1/2 hour each. That "look" was enough for me. Since the sauna in the women's changing room is free, I didn't want to book any more time in the Persian Gardens. I think it's one of those things that appeals to some and not to others.

I think the day pass was $20. They had a few spa treatmants that included it. For me, the Persian Gardens was a highlight. It was so relaxing in there. The heated tile bench was the most comfortable thing I have ever sat on. Having a bad back, this turned out to be just what I needed. Also, I would go at 10 pm and often ran into crew members. It was wonderful talking to them about sports, cars and everyone's favorite passtimes. While I enjoyed it, I can see others not feeling it worth the cost.
