will7678 Posted December 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2017 Hello everyone! My wife and I are going on a cruise to the Bahamas this February (Nassau and Freeport). How is the mosquito population in the area during that time? Asking because of the whole Zika scare. Doing some research it looks like there has not been a single case in the Bahamas in 2017 but the CDC still has it listed as a travel warning. We aren't pregnant yet but hoping to be soon so just getting an idea if there are areas of the islands we should avoid because of higher mosquito populations. Thanks! Rare Keith1010 Posted December 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2017 We have not encountered them in February. However I would still come prepared. Things can always change. Keith
kaytbates Posted February 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Hopefully you'll get to see this before you sail, but the CDC placed the Bahamas on the Interrupted Transmission list (so no more Zika is present) as of Feb 2, 2018! (We've been watching this closely as we sail on Feb 18, and found out about 10 days ago we were pregnant.) Hope you enjoy your trip!
