phabric Posted December 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2017 We arrive at 6:30am on a Thursday in July, terminal 2 from Canada. We plan on taking the National Coach from LHR to Winchester. National Express times (as of today) are - 8am 9:45am 11:30am 1:15pm Do you think we can make the 9:45am coach? I know that if earlier or later can change free at LHR station. I am not planning to purchase tickets yet. Today's price is £16.50/pp, is that a good price, do you think the price will go down as time gets closer to my date? Bob++ Posted December 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2017 I would be very surprised if you couldn't make the 0945 coach
easyboy Posted December 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2017 Last September, it took us 1 hour to pass thru immigration, unusually long from our previous experiences of 10am arrival on UA. I guess you will be fine for your 9:45am plan. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare John Bull Posted December 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 23, 2017 Can I presume from the times that you quote that your aircraft goes to Terminals 1 or 2 or 3? You have a little more leeway if you fly into T4 or T5. 9.45 should be fine. You even have a good chance of making the 8am, because formalities are usually quicker at that time of day and because eastbound trans-Atlantics often arrive early. But your coach booking is only guaranteed for the time you book - a switch to an earlier or later one is subject to the coach not being fully-booked, so best to book the 9.45 to be sure and to treat the 8am as a bonus if it works out. BTW that flexibility is only available on coaches from airports - for other journeys a ticket is only good for the booked time. Whilst Nat Express often have promos at ridiculously low prices, I've never known them to offer lower prices on journeys to or from airports - they know that those passenger must travel. The coach will have started its journey in central London & will call at Heathrow en-route. Passengers who book your coach from central London to Winchester will probably pay less than you even though their journey is longer, but that's the way it is. There's no price advantage in delaying your booking from Heathrow. JB :)
