If you go on your own, can you bring food from ship as lunch before you go What do most people do? Thanks SH
Cruise CLN Posted December 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2005 Lobster night is Thursday night. We were so busy everyday off the boat that we never had lunch there. You could probably bring paper bags with you and order room service for food to go. They have a couple different sandwiches, etc.. on the room service menu at no extra cost. Have fum, we sure did!!!! beachchick Posted December 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2005 You are not allowed to take fresh food from the ship onto the islands. (It doesn't matter that it's all part of the same state; they are separate islands with distinct and precious ecosystems.) People do try to sneak fresh stuff off (and some succeed), but please don't. You can bring packaged foods (crackers and cheese, granola bars, chips, bottled juices, and the like; probably even containers of yogurt and cartons of milk), but not fruit, veggies, sandwiches, or other freshly made foods. Your question is an innocent one, but it's an all to common occurance for people to disregard the rules--I am not saying that you will; in fact, thank you for asking. A plea to all (this is absolutely not directed at PoAMHoneymoon): Please do not attempt to break these agricultural laws and regulations. Even if we don't understand them or think they are excessive, they are in place for a reason. We all know about ecological disasters and destruction caused by the introduction of foreign flora or fauna into an environment. And especially in a more confined locale, such as an island. There is absolutely no way to rationalize doing it. Final caveat though: The only way to know exactly what rules are in place on the inter-island cruises is to ask NCL and to read the ship daily or check the signs before disembarking on each island. Mahalo for you patience while I've been on my soapbox. beachchick
