Golf

Last week while on Cayman Island for the first time, we did a tour of Stingray City, the turtle farm, the rum cake factory, and hell. While we had fun, our guide mentioned that there were two excellent golf courses on the island, and that would have been our choice for the day. Doesn't anyone know what they are and what condition they are in after the hurricane hit? We are going back there in November 2006. Thanks.

All courses are on the east side of the main road along Seven Mile Beach.

One course is Brittania at The Hyatt, and looks to now be in excellent condidiotn.

Another course is called Safehaven, but I haven't driven by it in a while.

A third course is nearing completion at the new Ritz Carlton. Expect nothing less but excellence there.

All three received major saltwater flooding from Hurricane Ivan in September 2004. The Ritz course went so far as to strip off the newly laid grass and some topsoil to be sure to remove the salt. They then started over. Brittania had a boat that was washed up and landed on the course (it has been moved).
