Place to hang out

We are leaving on cruise tomorrow from Galveston and it looks like our shuttle will drop us about an hour before our check in time. Is there anything to do around the Carnival port? Or at least somewhere we can be inside? It looks like it will probably be raining at that time.

Take a walk along the Strand, or one street over. Visit Tola Mo Betta Market, grab a cold beer and enjoy one of the outdoor tables.

Also, try LaKings Confectioners (sp) about three blocks down. Fun place for a sugar rush.

The Tremont House is a beautiful hotel and the lobby bar is really nice. There is enough to do within 5 blocks to take 2-3 hours. Starbucks is at the intersection where you enter the terminal area by vehicle.

Thanks for the tips! We're on a delay this morning, quite foggy and apparently my ship didn't come in... ;)

We'll see what we can get into once we get down there. Rain appears to be moving out, so that helps. My partner has MS, so we can't cover a lot of territory (we know we'll be doing plenty of that on the boat! ) but these sound like some reasonable ideas without too much fatigue. Thanks!

If you are facing the ship.. to the right is a complex with a couple restaurants. We've eaten at Olympia there and it's pretty good. We enjoy hanging out in that area, but it can be crowded because it is right next door to the ship...at least it was a couple years ago.
