Celebrity's new class of ships, called Edge class, the first of which is now under construction for delivery in December, will have a 25 yard long (75 feet) lap pool, according to their promotional material. That's almost as long as an Olympic Short Course competition pool, which is 25 meters long (82 ft).

 

They might be something to consider in the future.

I believe the OP described themselves as budget travelers . The Edge class will be seriously expensive . Seriously seriously expensive !:o It does look nice though.

Yes, you are correct. Brand new ships typically demand higher prices. But after the ships have been in service for a while, prices will come down closer to what Princess or HAL may charge for their ships. More than Carnival or NCL, true, but it will be a much better product than either of those two low end cruise lines. So it might be worth it for the OP in the future. Besides, who's to say the OP won't win a lotto before then and can afford to do it right, and have access to a pool that matches their needs better. ;)
