Sheffie Posted December 27, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2005 http://www.canariohotels.com/sea.htm We are staying at this hotel. It got good reviews from here and is very reasonably priced, esp. for SJU.

bouhunter Posted December 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2005 It's not cheap, but the Hilton is very nice. We stayed there for a week last winter using Hilton points, so it was "free":D If you're there 2 nights be sure to go to Old San Juan. See at least one of the two forts. For dinner I highly recommend the Parrot Club:)
GLBT CRUISER Posted December 27, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2005 I second the Caribe Hilton...if you shop around maybe you'll find a good rate...love the private beach and breakfast buffet is very good..see if you can get a rate that includes it. Marriot in Condado also looks nice, good buffet too....can you tell I love to eat?????????????:)
atlcple2 Posted December 27, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2005 If you are looking to be in downtown San Juan, the El Convento is a very cool hotel. It is right in the heart of Old San Juan and was a convent years and years ago and was redone into a really cool hotel. Moderately priced.
Swedish Chef Posted December 28, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 28, 2005 The other option you have is log onto tripadvisor @ www.tripadvisor.com, it will give you all the Hotels in san Juan as well as reviews posted by people who were just there. We are on the Feb.27,2006 Cruise and are staying at the Coral Princess that has been getting 4-5 star ratings:D
KKeeganS Posted December 28, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 28, 2005 We loved the InterContinental. Had a great pool area, very friendly staff and lots of restaurants on site and wtihin walking distance.
Highlander Posted December 28, 2005 #10 Share Posted December 28, 2005 Got a great rate through Priceline for January 13th stay. We ended up with the Normandie hotel (next to the Hotel Caribe Hilton) Initially, we were hoping for the Caribe Hilton as we stayed there last year but couldn't get Priceline to accept at our price this year. We leave Jan 14th on the Constellation. We also are renting a car at the airport and their downtown office will drop us off at the pier next morning. Cheers,

Cheers, I have stayed at the Normandy and it is a very nice hotel. It has recently been refurbished. You are a short cab ride from Old San Juan. Enjoy! lovetocruiserccl Posted December 28, 2005 #13 Share Posted December 28, 2005 We stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan formally the InterContential. We were there for two days, had a wonderful time. Won over $1200.00 in the casino which made it even better. Great hotel.

ckrobyn Posted December 28, 2005 #15 Share Posted December 28, 2005 We are booked at the Marriott Courtyard - got pretty decent reviews on trip advisor. Rates are still high though - paying $230 a night for 4 nights pre-cruise January 25-29/06.
Smooth Sailing Posted December 28, 2005 #16 Share Posted December 28, 2005 Joe has a real problem here - He has waited too long to book his hotel reservations - for the nights of 1/13 and 1/14 the following hotels have no availability - El Convento, Intercontinental, Caribe Hilton, Marriott, Normandie, El Carino, Milano, Coqui Inn, and the best little hotel in San Juan, Coral Princess Inn. So what does Joe have left - Condado Plaza $210 per night, Radisson $206 per night, Embassy Suites $250 per night, Sheraton $300 per night, and the least expensive and also least recommended, San Juan Beach Hotel $177 per night. Good Luck Joe - I hope you can find something that you can live with.

If you have not already done so - the Hotel El Portal has about a dozen reviews on TripAdvisor.com - search for San Juan Hotels - The El Portal is at #52 on page 2 - at least you will have some idea of what to expect.
