Southampton to Lehauvre/Normandy

I was told it is possible to visit Lehavre/Normandy area from Southampton in a day. To me this looks impossible as the ferry is 8hr alone and doesn't leave from Southampton. Anyone know if this makes sense?

Unless you have a private charter jet/helicopter from Southampton airport, forget it!

It takes about 6.5hrs to get from Southampton to Le Havre. Train or bus to Portsmouth, then ferry. So, 13 hour round trip plus sightseeing time in Le Havre.

 

If you've done everything there is to do I. Southampton, try the Red Funnel line to Isle of Wight. That's like a different country(planet?) by itself!
