HawaiiCruiser Posted December 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2005 If one had a choice of one of the Penthouse Suites on the Galaxy - Suite 1047 or 1044 - Which would you choose? Does it make a difference? Anyone been in either? Mahalo
cechase Posted December 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2005 Yes, and they are the same. Although Starboard would be preferrable because the vessel always docks with the Starboard towards the pier. So you have a good view of the land. We always stay in a Royal Suite, usually adjacent to the PH - so you have to remember that the width of the PH is no greater than a RS, and the veranda is no wider - it is just that they are so much longer, with a butler's pantry, and a much larger fridge. We were in the Starboard PH on Galaxy in Oct. and it is very nice, with lots of electronic toys.
kitty9 Posted December 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2005 I have to respectfully disagree with the comment that they always dock with the starboard side to the pier. That isn't always the case. From one cruise to the next, you really don't know how the ship will be docked. It all depends on many things such as time of arrival and how many other ships are in port. TNTKP Posted December 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2005 kitty9, I agree. Was in the port side PH on the Mercury for a SFO-Mexican Riviera cruise, which turned out to be the best view side on that trip. On RCCL's Spendour OTS transatlantic last November, had the Royal suite, which was on the starboard side-and this was the best side for views and docking! This month was on the Costa Magica 17 night TA in a Grand suite on the starboard side (picked it due to westbound TA's starboard rooms face North-less sun shing into the room) ans it was great for almost all docking and views. Have just booked the starboard PH on the Galaxy (1044) for the December 2006 TA for the same reason (faces North on westbound sailings). Up to this point, we have just looked for the side of the ship that faces away from the sun (we like shade and are not sun worshippers, and like to keep drapes open as much as possible) and have lucked out. So, it all depends on what exposure you want, itinerary, and ports of call! They are very expansive rooms, with a fabulous bedroom and master bathroom, as well as a DVD projector that utilizes a 100 inch screen ob the wall behind the living room sofa (the picture on the wall hided the screen). Can't wait to get back on a Celebrity ship!! Tim p.s. Sometimes the view from your balacony is more important than on which side the ship docks!
