EZ Air?

I have been sailing Princess for many years, and have really never looked into EZair because we get pretty good rates online with the schedule that is convenient for us. However, with this current promotion, I looked into independent air, not so bad prices, but I always look for cheaper. I have a Casino Come Back offer, so when I called about cruise rates for a particular cruise, I asked about how the airfare worked.. well wouldn't you know it, I got some kind of vague answer, kind of like stirring the dirt with your foot, looking into the sky. So I let it go, for then. I booked a cruise, through the Casino people, so when I checked my personalizer to make sure the info was correct, I checked the EZair rates. Low and behold, the same exact flights I am watching were available....at 1/3 the cost...I was looking at 260 and change for two one ways, Princess had it for 206 RT for BOTH of us...I immediately booked it through my personalizer. .I don't think it will get any cheaper than that....But I watch anyway.

You may still have some worries. As it says "to the next appropriate port." For an Alaska cruise appropriate means no violating the PVSA which means you cannot initially board this ship in one USA port and finally disembark in a different USA port.

So if you are scheduled to embark in Vancouver and miss the boat, there is no next appropriate port. If you are scheduled to embark in Whittier and miss the boat, you would be OK to board in another Alaska port since the cruise ends in Vancouver.

If you are doing round trip from Seattle or California and miss the boat, boarding in the Canadian port on the itinerary would be OK, but not at any other USA port on the itinerary.

I have experience with the PVSA, as I had to process paperwork and pay the penalty for a friend who was very sick and "had" to get off in San Diego our first port, after we embarked in LA. The penalty can be waived or in many instances absorbed by the cruise line.

We are leaving out of Seattle I do believe Princess will get my son or I to Juneau if there is a flight problem, even though it is a US port. Am I naive...? As The Rabbit mentioned above..it did happened 20 years ago and I believe it would happen today. Of course I could be eating my words, in a few months.

I was also under the impression using EZAir guarantees getting you to the next port.

Not so. Princess will ASSIST you in getting to the next "appropriate" port.

Passengers who book air travel through Princess Cruises will be automatically enrolled in the Princess late arrival protection program. If guests miss or will miss their original port of embarkation due to airline delay or an airline service disruption, such as flight cancelation or flight re-routes, Princess will work with the airlines to find a reasonable alternative to provide flights to the next appropriate* port at no additional air cost to the guest.

Hi Diane...good clarification...reality is, the airline or pax will probably have the situation solved prior to calling Princess. If it becomes more problematic then a phone call to Princess will be in order. It is amazing how much time is made in the air, on delayed flights.

My last experience to Alaska, 20 years ago, we were delayed several hours on a non-stop LAX to Anchorage...the ship waited for us and another couple an hour......would they do that today....it depends.....?
