Can you walk to Dunn’s River Falls

We are on a forth coming cruise on MSc Seaside which calls at Ocho Rios and wondered whether it’s possible to walk to Dunn’s River falls rather than an organised trip? We are a fairly adventurous couple who prefer to be explore on our own and saw that it’s only about 5km from the port, which for us is no issue but I suppose it depends on what the pathways are like. Many thanks.

distance is doable, I've done it, don't recommend it

the roads are narrow, sidewalk non existent unless something has been added and the drivers are "island"

you can take a taxi ... the cost is stupid crazy, like $10 per person but this is for a ROUND TRIP ....

I have NEVER used a cruise excursion and been there well over a dozen times ... first 1986!

I've walked, run and biked it when this was in my patrol area, but usually EARLY b4 traffic picked up.

search here for my name and Dunns River and you'll find many posts with additional details

once at the falls you can stretch plenty going up and down!!!

when you DIY you can stay as long as you like as admission is 'all day', not a one time experience the typical excursion provides

if you do the climb 3 times ... you'll have a good day's exercise!
