mugtech Posted April 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2018 The Philippines just closed Boracay island to tourists from April 26 to October 26 this year. The Ovation out of China is scheduled to tender to the island on a 12 day cruise starting October 5. Gotta wonder when and how the itinerary will change. The island charges tourists 100 pesos to arrive and 100 pesos to leave (about $4 USD total), so perhaps port fees will be lowered.
LizzyDragon Posted April 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2018 Royal usually refunds any port fees if a stop is cancelled. Since this cancellation is several months in advance, RCI might be able to replace the port with something else instead.
dolphingirl47 Posted April 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2018 (edited) We are on Ovation on June 6th and were also supposed to stop at Boracay. I have to say for me the ship is the main reason for going and this cruise is part of a bigger Hong Kong and China trip. I just checked my booking and Boracay was replaced with Manila. gliles Posted April 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Just checked our cruise planner for our 10/7 on Ovation and Boracay is still there - I was really looking forward to the beach there. Why have they closed it?
