RCI Star Class VS NCL Haven

Recommended Posts

Hi All I am looking for someone who has experienced both RCI Star Class and NCL Haven Suite. My DH and I are currently booked on the Anthem in Nov 2018 star class Grand Loft Suite to celebrate our 10 yr anniversary. We may have to change the dates due to work, but the prices on RCI Star Class are double what we paid for our trip. Ncl’s New ship the Bliss is about the same cost if we book a Haven suite. I’m trying to figure out the differences and if the Genie compares to the butler service...What should we do?

Thanks Jennifer

We haven’t done Star Class yet (two trips upcoming- including Grand Loft Suite on Anthem) but we did Haven on NCL. From what I can tell, the Genie is nothing like the Butler. The Genie is more like a super concierge/facilitator. It seems that the Genie gives much more personalized and individualized service

I’ve experienced both and this is a very accurate description.

Although both are wonderful, I prefer Star Class. It’s also nice that everything is included with Star Class, which is not always the case with the Haven (depends on what promos are being offered).

We have sailed both star class and in Haven. It's a different experience.

For sure the genie is a much more personalized experience. Our genie would coordinate events for us tours of ship etc, stop by or call to get our breakfast order, save seats in shows for us. She personally escorted us off the ship at stops and when we embarked/disembarked Both would leave treats but the Genie asked for feedback and was more thoughtful in what was brought. We saw our genie much more. We still talk about our genie Susan 2 years later. Couldn't tell you name of butler from NCL cruise. (Don't even think we knew that well while on the ship)

We preferred the Haven restaurant to the one on NCL.

The pool in Haven was really nice and missing in our suite experience on RC

Genie is better, more personal, more available than the butler. Genie may walk you off the ship in port by yourself. Haven jams you in together with a freight elevator full of Haven guests. But RCL really doesn't offer anything to compare to the private Haven facilities - pool, restaurant particularly (see news today about upcoming RCL ship in China to have a suite zone). Still, overall I prefer RCCL for food, service and entertainment. The Haven facilities are the best part of a NCL cruise in my opinion.

STAR CLASS STAR CLASS STAR CLASS. No comparison. Regarding NCL....we had a butler? I honestly don’t remember anything he did for us. The suites on NCL are nice, and decorated beautifully, but they seemed cramped. The Haven is a great experience...but it just lacked THE GENIE. Deck space on NCL was monopolized by attractions we just didn’t use. We went RUNNING back to Star Class. The personalized service was without equal.
