Palma port to city centre?

Recommended Posts

This has probably been asked and answered before but we dock in palma for the day and want to go through to the main city centre bit. What's the easiest & most cost effective way to get there using transport? were 3 adults sailing this july,

Many thanks

You should be able to walk to Cathedral. Behind it is a number of older streets. Royal palace is also nearby. Shops are in the same areas which is crowded and touristy. If you want to go the beach (Palmanova, etc) use 100 series buses that stop close to the port. Around 30-40 min with traffic.

Since the opening of the new cruise terminal in Palma if you are on one of the larger ships docking in Palma you will be at quay that is at least 1/2 hr walk from the city center and at least a 15/20 min walk to the port gates and along walk even to catch a bus .

If you do decide on the public transport you need to walk to the port gates and keep going until you see a shopping mall in front of you (Porto Pi).

Cross the main road and catch No 3 Bus into the centre of Palma.

Best option is the shuttle bus or a taxi .

Really easy from Estacio Maritima you walk out of the port and right outside there are some bus stops you get the No1 bus takes you straight to the centre of Palma. They are very frequent Cost approx 2 to 2.5 euros each way but ask them to tell you where to get off on the bus back because its not obvious. When you get off you need to cross the road and walk over the grass before you realise that your back at Estacio Maritima

You did not read my post above this is O.K if the ship docks at the Estacio Maritima , but all the larger ships will dock at the new cruise terminal .

The easiest way but not the most cost effective way is to use the ship's shuttle. We did that this past April. The shuttle is very close to the ship and drops you off a short walk away from the city centre. The buses run back and forth frequently. We paid $15.US p/p return.

15 US p/p if you can fill a taxi it is a better deal 10/12 eu for the trip and you don't have wait till they fill the coach or have to get back to drop off for the coach .

Taxis are plentiful and cheap ,you can hail them anywhere also they do not expect a tip !!

Just to be clear, are you saying that you can get a taxi from the port to town for 10/12 euro total? Or per person? We will have four people, so we could easily fill a taxi on our own.

It is 10/12 eu for the taxi for 4 people, there are taxis that take 6 people same price if you can find one.
