WI-Cruiser Posted January 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2006 We're only interested in a Tortuguero Canal tour. Not interested in any plantation/farms/school/animal reserves/zipline; just the Tortuguero Canal - a couple/few hours. I've emailed a few of the tour guides referred to in other posts but they all have 5-6 hour tours with a lot more than we really want. Anyone have suggestions? The ship offers such an excursion but it's much more expensive and we really would perfer a smaller group. Thanks.
cruzin lady Posted January 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2006 We used Eduardo Humphreys (e-mail: *****). when we were in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica on Jan. 10. We had corresponded with him for several months. He was right where he told us he would meet us as soon as we got off the ship. He provided excellent service, and the tour was designed according to our specifications. We mainly did only the canals in a small boat with just our group of 4. Eduardo negotiated with the people running the boats and went with us to help us see exciting things! The captain of our boat was great and very skilled at spotting animals, birds, etc. That was, indeed, the highlight of our trip. His tour cost was better than most other independent guides and far better than the ship's shore excursion. His van was comfortable, he spoke good English, and we couldn't have been happier. Give him an idea of what you want. :)
