Brugges, interesting museum

Recommended Posts

For anyone interested in military history...

We visited a very interesting exhibition in the provincial courthouse in the Markt in the centre of Brugges.

Lots of photos and artefacts from the St George's day battle in World War I. The building was used as headquarters by the German Navy, and U boats were based in the canals in Brugge and operated out of Zeebrugge.

The temporary exhibition runs until August, costs 5€ each, clean restrooms etc!

Website is http://www.vliz.be for information in English, opening times etc. there are posters outside for the "Battle for the North Sea" and it is right next to the Historium

Thanks for the info. However, we will not be there until next May. Could you please help me with some info? Is there anything to do for an hour or two by the port? We are taking an excursion to Flanders and afterwards were wanting to check out some shops or cafe or bar. Thanks!!
