ibxcruiser Posted June 16, 2018 #26 Share Posted June 16, 2018 I'm thinking of taking the 10 day Hawaii cruise but having a hard time imagining 5 consecutive days at sea. Thoughts? We did Hawaii 14nt a few years ago, from Long Beach on Summit. Yes, several sea days in each direction, but that alone helped with time changes (we're east coast people), clocks set back an hour each day, so when we got to Honolulu we weren't jet-lagged. Same thing on return. Activities onboard were Hawaiian themed. Hula lessons, lei making class, speaker with presentation on history and culture. I'd do it again. Ox Fan Cruiser Posted August 1, 2018 #28 Share Posted August 1, 2018 I'm thinking of taking the 10 day Hawaii cruise but having a hard time imagining 5 consecutive days at sea. Thoughts?our last 2 cruises were Transatlantics, April 2017 Eclipse & April 2018 NCL Breakaway. We too worried about so many days at sea, but after the 1st one we worried no more.. Very relaxing. BUT next time we will do West bound ones. Losing 1 hour sleep day after day did take it's toll.
Rare roxievegas Posted August 1, 2018 #29 Share Posted August 1, 2018 In April 2018, we did the 28 round trip LA to Hawaii, Tahiti, and back to LA (on Princess) - four sea days to get to Hawaii, then more sea days in between going to America Samoa, Bora Bora, etc. Then headed home it was 8 sea days. Too many sea days for us with nothing to look forward to except going home. We took 20 paperback books, read them all and left them in the library onboard the ship. After 5 sea days we were ready to end. We are now going on the 10 day Vancouver to Hawaii in September. Flying to Vancouver, and then flying home from Honolulu. We are doing this trip because we had booked it while on board our Alaska cruise in 2017. We won't have a problem with the 5 sea days to get to Hawaii - we will have the islands to look forward to and will take more books. We prefer to have the long sea days in the beginning, not the end of the cruise.
Atwell Posted August 2, 2018 #30 Share Posted August 2, 2018 I'm thinking of taking the 10 day Hawaii cruise but having a hard time imagining 5 consecutive days at sea. Thoughts? We took a 15 night cruise from San Diego to Hawaii in Feb 2013 (on the Century). The 5 days in Hawaii were wonderful but the 5 days in each direction were mostly cold and windy. There were some activities on the ship during the day but the outdoor pool area was empty and everyone just stayed inside. Very few, if any, passengers used their veranda. It got kind of boring with so many sea days. If the weather had been better it would have been much more enjoyable. Perhaps we were just unlucky with the February weather.
