Explorer cabin Mystery

I have seen photos on several websites and Viking cabin reviews which show a bathroom photo with the bow of the ship appearing in the window over the bathtub. How is this possible anatomically based on the location of the bathroom?

Thank you to cruise critic detectives who may be able to solve this mystery.

On our last cruse in April 2018, aboard the Viking Sea (a trans Atlantic cruise from San Juan to Barcelona) we were offered (and accepted) an opportunity to upgrade our cabin from a Penthouse Jr Suite 3 to an Explorer Suite 3 (Suite 3000). It was on the ship's port side as far forward as possible and overlooked the open bow area. The picture you have attached is identical to what we saw when looking out the bathroom window over the bathtub.

The confusion occurs in that all Explorer Suites are not identical and layouts are based on their location (forward or aft) and on what deck they are on. They are designed to fit in the space available. On one earlier cruise we stayed in another ES3 that overlooked the stern of the ship. Totally different layout but all of the same amenities. The Explorer Suite area in Viking's literature and in online sites list a minimum square footage and sample cabin layouts but is not necessarily what all cabins are like. I hope this will answer your question.

Thank you Senior Gators. Would you answer one more question for me.....

In cabin 3000 were you able to have an unobstructed view looking forwards? It looks as though the bow of the ship might be high enough to partially obscure your view, especially if you were seated in your cabin.

Thank you.

lucyd,

Only those things relatively close to the ship were partially obstructed when sitting down such as when in coming into a port, in port or sailing out. Otherwise you have a clear view to the horizon. Of course if you are standing you can see everything.

The veranda is partially covered and opens to the side of the ship. Plenty of room for a cabana styled bed, 4 chairs and a table. The side of the veranda facing forward has large, heavily armored windows that are nearly from deck to overhead and are anchored in stout steel bulkheads. The outer most part of the veranda is open both forward to the bow and overlooking the port side of the ship.

The living/dining area is spacious and very light and airy with sofa, 2 easy chairs coffee table dinning table, 4 chairs and a combination desk/mini bar. The bedroom has an European king-sized bed and two night stands with lamps, electrical and charging outlets. There are two 40" flat screen TVs. one in each of the two main rooms. The bath is large and spacious with double sinks, a separate bath and shower (with a third TV hidden in the mirror overlooking the bath. There is a separate walk-in closet with a vanity for doing hair and make-up.

Sorry to get so long winded on you question, but thought you might be interest in more details about Viking Ocean ship's Explorer Suites.
