MurfAtHome Posted January 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2006 We plan to rent a car while in Mexico. My Allstate insurance doesn't cover me if I am more than 75 miles from the U.S. border. The car rental companies offer insurance but it is expensive and I dont know if it is a good idea. My agent suggested I find a company regestered to do business in Mexico and buy it from them. thanks!!!
jsaadat Posted January 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2006 Everything you say is true.............. I have noticed that some coverage has been included wiith Avis in our last 2 Mexico Rentals, so you may want to ask them "What coverage is included in the rental" ? Also I called me Credit Card company and found out that I am also covered with them as long as I use the card to pay for the rental. J
hdawson Posted January 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2006 Get the insurance and be stress free. Most US insurance companies only offer coverage in the US and Canada. I rented from Avis 3 months ago in Merida for 5 days and have used Executive Rental on Cozumel.
