upgrade timing question

we are on the august 5th epic, we have an inside cabin but bid on a balcony and mini suite - i have read of some who get their offer accepted or rejected right away - we bid as soon as the offer came via email - do you think it's a plus or minus that we haven't heard anything yet - we are 7 days away and yesterday the cruise didn't even appear on the ncl website - does anyone have experience with this, it's the first time we have used the bidding process

There are three main things that seem to contribute to the early acceptance of bids:

 

1. The ship is nearly at capacity and they are taking the sailing down from NCL.com for additional bookings, so they go ahead and process bids.

2. If your bid is VERY high, they do seem to sometimes have an "auto-accept" threshold set for some categories on some sailings.

3. They are about to lower prices across the board, so they lock in your high bid, so you can't lower it after the price drop.

 

Other than those scenarios, bids tend to be processed the week prior to sailing, in about the 2-5 days out range. This is the norm. So definitely don't take it as a bad sign if your bid has not been processed yet.
