Belize city port

We will be stopping in Belize for the first time and we're trying to figure out what excursion to do with a 7 year old. I'm interested in the lamanai boat tour but I was reading that it was a lot of walking. Can anyone give input if you have done the tour before? Too much walking for kids? Any other excursions that would be great?

Altun Ha is another ruins alternative that is much closer and can be done in a morning.

Yes, it is cleared and doesn't have that "Indian Jones" vibe. But then Mayan's didn't live in an Indian Jones environment either. And the climbing is reasonable.

Cave-tubing would be a blast for a 7 year old.

We did a combination Altun Ha / River Wallace tour. The ruins were nice- nothing really spectacular but you could climb to the top of the temple. Our kids were middle school/ elementary age and loved the river tour. We saw monkeys and crocodiles and then as we approached open water they sped up and we got splashed which the kids loved.
