Question for past Pacific and Sapphire cruisers

Recommended Posts

I have cruised on the beautiful Sapphire Princess.

Thinking about a Pacific Princess cruise...I see this is not near as big a ship.

What are the major differences that I might expect?

Only 1 main diningroom, so there will only be traditional. The two specialty rest. are not open on the same nights. No evening buffet. The buffet turns into a sit down pizza rest with table cloths and small salad bar. Show rooms are small and productions shows don't have all the special effects(if that is what you want). No wrap around promenade deck. One pool. Small casino.

It is a beautiful ship and really seems like a ship with all the rich wood tones. If you like lots of chrome and flash, don't expect it. You will probably know at least half the ship before you end your cruise. Mini-suites are worth it on this ship. There will be more movement on the smaller ships. There will be less shipboard activities, so if you cannot entertain yourself, this might not be a ship for you.

Booking early on a ship with only Traditional is a good idea if you really want the dining time you want.

Everything is a major difference. Sapphire is about 100,000 GRT larger and carries about 2000 more passengers. Everything will be scaled down. I think Pacific is a perfect sized ship, but note that I like smaller ships. Donna’s post gives you the details, but suffice to say, the experience will be totally different.
