How long can I hold off on booking?

Hi,

I want to cruise to Alaska in July but may have a major business trip to Asia with me returning the day before the cruise. I won't know until March. If I am not fussy about which cabin, do you think it is okay to book in March?

Also, does anyone know who chartered the whole cruise on the Star on July 2nd?

If cash isn't tight, you could book now and if you find out in March that you can't go, you would be able to get a full refund (unless you book through a TA that might charge a cancellation fee). This could also protect you if prices should rise.

book now and lock in a cabin and a top price. Then if you select your agency carefully, you can cancel in March if need be no penalty and again if you choose well you can get any lower price going if one comes along you qualify for and if you Can go. Win Win situation.
