Grand Cayman Time?

Is the time in Grand Cayman different from the ship time? We will be arriving on the Liberty and was looking a booking excursions. If Cayman is 1 hr. behind or ahead, that could make a difference when booking excursions.

My understanding is that Grand Cayman is the same as ship time (at least in Feb.) Not sure of your itinerary, but if you're headed to the western Carib. after (Mexico, Panama) etc., this changes and there is a difference between ship time and port time. HTH!

Ship time? Cayman time? Just what time is it?

The Cayman Islands do not observe Daylight Savings Time. Our clocks are the same as in Indianapolis, IN year-round. That's great if you're a Hoosier, but don't mean much if you're on a cruise. So what does it mean?

Frequently ship time is defined as the time at the port where you boarded your ship (often Miami, but other ships run from elsewhere in the Gulf region).

During the winter months Cayman time = Miami time (and often ship time)

During the summer months Cayman time = Houston time (and is 1 hour behind most ships' time) Thus 2pm Cayman time = 3pm ship time.

Not sure? Ask your ship's personnel. They are quite accustomed to dealing with this. Don't ask Caymanians... the island doesn't move around nearly as much as your ship, so the whole thing just confuses us! :D
