Labadee - Can you leave?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I realize that this question has been done to death, but I am asking because I will be staying at an AI in Haiti near Port-Au-Prince around Christmas time. It is a 5 hour drive (10 RT plus the actual visit) on rough roads for about $350 from the resort to the Citadel site. From Labadee, it is more like 1.5 hours and $150 from what I've seen. I would like to know: are you are able to leave the cruise compound (with passport of course) so that you could take your own excursion to see the Citadel? If so, I would be more inclined to skip the excursion from my resort and to come back via the cruise ship port sometime later. If you have any information on this, let me know.

Thanks for your help,

Zack F.

Zack,

Labadee is owned and operated by Royal Caribbean. I would think you would have to reach out to them for an answer. Check the cruise out and see if there is a tour while you are there.

From what I have read the area is enclosed to control access but I have also read tours of the island are offered there.
