theos on the go Posted May 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2004 My daughter would like to get a henna tatoo. Does anyone know if there is someone who does those at Paradise Beach? Or at Passion Island? We haven't decided which one we are doing yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Elation 1-2-
pc2425 Posted May 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We were at Paradise Beach a couple of weeks ago and I know that they do them there. I don't have any idea of the cost. Peggy Pride 03/03 Holiday 04/

Coz_Minigolf_Sally Posted May 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Prices on the henna tattoos at Paradise Beach range from $7-$40 depending on the design. Juan does a great job! He did a ladybug for me and then a lizard crawling out from between my toes. Minigolf Sally Cozumel Putting Course

isabellmybell Posted July 20, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2004 Just a dumb question, Do these things hurt? Are they like the pain of a real tatoo?? If so I may have to pass. Gayle Grand Princess 7 Days 4 Dec
nycny Posted July 21, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 21, 2004 It is like a magic marker but henna so no pain. Suntan lotion fades the tattoo so you have to be careful.
hilltopfamily Posted July 21, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 21, 2004 My daughter was wondering what kinds of designs they can make for the tatoos. And what were the most popular body places they make them on? Thanks!:)
cruisin' scrapper Posted July 21, 2004 #14 Share Posted July 21, 2004 Just so you know-there is NO such thing as black henna!! It can be extremely dangerous because black hair dye is used to color the henna. True henna is reddish brown & stains your skin. The amount of time it lasts depends on how you take care of the "tattoo" & how well your skin accepts the stain. It does not hurt at all-the henna mixture is applied to the top of your skin, not in it like an ink tattoo. NeptunesGoddess Posted July 22, 2004 #15 Share Posted July 22, 2004 WOW..that is really scary. Now I am going to have to talk my daughter out of getting a henna tattoo, which will not be an easy task...she was sooo looking forward to it. I wonder why they don't just use the safer red henna? CozSally Posted July 22, 2004 #16 Share Posted July 22, 2004 I have had several black henna tattoos at PB with no problem whatsoever. I have picked designs from the hundreds available in the display book and I have also designed/described my own. My favorite was my own creation, a lizard crawling out from between my fourth and little toe, with its tail wrapped around my little toe. With proper care it lasted about two weeks. Many people get henna tattoos here in Cozumel. I have lived here over 6 years and this is the first time I have ever heard of having a health hazard. My 2 centavos... cruisin' scrapper Posted July 22, 2004 #17 Share Posted July 22, 2004 CozSally-I just put the information on here so people can make their own informed decisions. Some people have visible reactions, some don't. I don't think I personally would want to take the chance. NeptunesGoddess-People want the "black" henna because it looks more like a real tattoo. nycny Posted July 22, 2004 #18 Share Posted July 22, 2004 One of the cool designs we saw was around the bellybutton. My 5 year old wouldn't do it and I shouldn't show mine, so my daughter got something on her arm.
solita Posted August 1, 2004 #19 Share Posted August 1, 2004 Yes, we do have a couple of excellant guys that do them on Passion Island. As everwhere, cost varies depending on design and size. You can choose the design or make one up. Most popular body location for them seem to be the small of your back, bicep, shoulder and ankle. Last from 2-3 weeks with proper care. bythehex Posted August 9, 2004 #20 Share Posted August 9, 2004 We were at Paradise Beach this past Thursday. My son got a henna tattoo (black). Three oriental letters that mean "Dragon God" on his upper arm area. The letters are abou 2 inches long by an inch across. It only cost $10. He had no adverse reaction, and it's still there. Tom, sorry I missed you!:( Sharon H.
Cozumel_Tom Posted August 10, 2004 #21 Share Posted August 10, 2004 I was doing my duties at the Pier in the a.m. and unfortunately could not find time to get to the beach that day :( I am selling my house, and there was a film crew in from England filming a show called "A Place in the Sun", and our house was one of two that was featured in Cozumel. Hope to catch you next time!
