Xel-ha worth the trouble?

My brother swears Xel-ha is worth the trouble. Since it probably takes at least 2 hours of travel time each way, I have my doubts.

 

However, I do love the idea of river tubing, cliff diving and snorkeling in the lagoons and cenotes.

 

Is it really worth 4 hours of travel time or should I just stick with Chankanaab?

We loved Xel Ha, but we did combine it with the trip to Tulum. We wished we had had longer at Xel Ha - the lagoon is beautiful, but I don't remember the cliff diving. Isn't there a closer lagoon area X-Caret(?)

Xcaret is in the Riviera Maya area, south of Cancun, on the mainland.
