buzzandjulie Posted September 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2018 We leave Sunday for Canadian cruise. Should be in Bar Harbour on Tuesday, day New England should get remits Florence. How often do they not make port call
Nanatravel Posted September 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Florence probably won't make it to the NE area that fast. She is going to linger in the Carolinas until Tuesday. Sent from my A576CC using Forums mobile app
theSHAH Posted September 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Bar Harbor is so far north of Florence's initial land fall I'd be surprised if anythint noteworthy makes its way up
Racer70 Posted September 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Rough seas may or not be an issue on any particular day. However, fog can always be an issue with Bar Harbor, as it is a tender port. In October 2015, we were scheduled to tender in Bar Harbor on the Brilliance of the Seas, but could not do so safely due to extreme, heavy fog. After floating off shore for a while, the captain made the call to head back out to sea and skip Bar Harbor for safety reasons. Very, very disappointing to the passengers, as Bar Harbor is considered the "jewel" port of the New England/Canadian cruise itinerary. Members of the crew advised us that it was not uncommon to have to skip the port in Bar Harbor for fog or rough seas because you must tender, which must be done under the safest of conditions. Hope for calm, clear weather for you next week.
