tammythetwinsmom Posted January 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2006 We are going to be in San Juan and want to see Old San Juan the morning before we board for our cruise. What highlights of Old San Juan would you recommend? We thought about hopping on the trolley to different points instead of walking the whole walking tour since we only have a couple hours. What do you think? :) Not sure of the trolley routes but assume they run to various highlights! Thanks for your help!
texancruzer Posted January 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2006 We were on 11/26 Serenade and spent 3 days/2night precruise at El Convento is osj....LOVE IT. However, do not count on the trolleys much. WHEN we did see one we were walking faster than it was moving !!!!! OSJ traffic is in a class all by itself and the streets are soooo tiny and cobbled. All one ways and just lots of cars/vans. We really enjoyed walking around El Morro (one whole morning) and then walking osj (one whole afternoon). Wear tennis shoes !!! Tip - Get Frommers Caribbean Ports of Call (5th edition) at your local bookstore. It has lots of info on San Juan and all the other Caribbean Ports. Well worth the @15.00 Not sure how much time you have but you could taxi to El Morro (do a short tour) and walk down (the key word here is down) along the wall of the city to the main downtown area (near the old docks) in a couple of hours. Make sure to hit a few of the highlights listed in the walking tour in the book. HAVE A GREAT TRIP !
